In my research career I focused on molecular mechanisms regulating plant defense activation upon sensing danger signals, such as cell wall-derived damage-associated molecular patterns. After my PhD in 2011, my work has contributed to identify key signaling elements and their subcellular dynamics during elicitor-induced immunity. In 2016 I joined the Brassinosteroids lab at VIB-UGent Center for Plant Systems Biology in Gent, where I contributed to study plasma membrane dynamics and clathrin-mediated internalization of activated Pattern Recognition Receptor complexes. In 2019, I started my own research group at the University of Tuscia. Our work aims at combining science-based knowledge with biotechnological methods to develop crops that have higher resilience to biotic stresses.
