Tiziana Laureti Elected Rector of the University of Tuscia

The first woman to lead the University since its foundation

Professor Tiziana Laureti has been elected Rector of the University of Tuscia for the upcoming term 2025–2031. She is the first woman to hold this position in the history of the University, which was founded in 1979. At the end of today’s voting process, held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Professor Laureti — the sole candidate — received broad support from the academic community (votes: 405).

Warm congratulations were extended to the new Rector by the current Rector, Stefano Ubertini, who stated:
“I would like to extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to Tiziana Laureti. Her election marks an important milestone for our University, and I am confident that under her leadership, the University will continue to grow and play a leading role in the national university system and in our wonderful region. I would also like to personally thank Tiziana for the dedication she has always shown and for the contribution I am sure she will make in her new role.”

The new Rector stated:
“First of all, I would like to thank the community for the trust placed in me. I take on this role with a sense of responsibility, a spirit of service, and deep respect for the institution. I will work to build an inclusive university, open to dialogue, committed to high-quality teaching and research, and increasingly connected with both the local area and the broader world.”

Tiziana Laureti, Full Professor of Economic Statistics, is currently Director of the Department of Economics, Engineering, Society and Business (DEIM). Originally from Viterbo, she has built a distinguished career at both the national and international levels, collaborating with institutions such as the World Bank, Eurostat, and the FAO. She was recently appointed as a member of the Commission for the Quality Assurance of Statistical Information (COGIS) by decree of the President of the Republic.

Professor Laureti will officially take office on November 1, 2025, succeeding Stefano Ubertini, and will lead the University for the next six years. Her election represents not only a significant turning point for the University of Tuscia but also a meaningful step forward in terms of gender equity and innovation in academic governance.
