The University Inclusion Committee is pleased to announce the first edition of the Theatre for Inclusion Workshop.
The 30-hour workshop will take place at the ArchLab and the Exhibition Hall of Santa Maria in Gradi on the following dates: March 26, 27, 28 – April 8 and 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. It will be led by Dr. Francesca Aloi, under the scientific coordination of the Rector’s Delegate for Inclusion, Dr. Martina Galli, and the project’s proponent, Prof. Daniela Vitiello.
This theatrical practice does not use traditional scripts but instead focuses on the lived experiences of the participants. The aim is to stimulate social change and develop a critical awareness of the themes addressed. Through the Theatre for Inclusion Workshop, the student body, academic community, and local citizens will have the opportunity to critically reflect on society and develop concrete strategies for addressing various challenges that may affect their personal and professional growth.
The first phase of the workshop will provide a theoretical introduction to Augusto Boal’s Theatre methodology and include practical experimentation with his games and exercises. These aim to foster a safe space, stimulate expressiveness, and encourage discussion on relevant social issues.
In the second phase, participants will explore various theatrical techniques, including Image Theatre and Newspaper Theatre. The latter uses theatrical language to highlight media distortions and manipulations. Drawing on real articles and news items, the technique helps reveal what lies between the lines, allowing participants to explore and represent topics such as human rights, international migration, gender equality, cultural diversity, disability, and neurodiversity, among others.
