“Ethical and Scientific Aspects” | first meeting of the series “Environment and Society”

23 October 2025 - 17:00 / 18:00

On October 23, 2025, at 5:00 p.m., the “Environment and Society – Protection and Enhancement of Urban and Coastal Landscapes” series will open at the Cittadella “Semi di Pace” in Tarquinia. The initiative is promoted by Semi di Pace ODV, Demos 23, Assolidi, the Società Tarquiniense d’Arte e Storia, the cultural association La Lestra, and Unicoop Tirreno – Sezione Soci Etruria.

The program aims to foster a shared reflection on the protection of the Tarquinia landscape—between the coast and the urban center—and on the value of the territory as a common good, to be preserved and enhanced through knowledge and participation.

The first meeting, entitled Ethical and Scientific Aspects will feature Giuseppe Nascetti, Professor Emeritus of Ecology, and Gianluca Piovesan, Full Professor in the Degree Course in Natural and Environmental Sciences, both from the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences (DEB) at the University of Tuscia.

In their talks, the two professors will contribute to the discussion on landscape protection by exploring the relationship between scientific knowledge, ethical responsibility, and the sustainable management of natural resources. They will focus in particular on the value of Tarquinia’s coastal and urban landscapes, and on conservation strategies that integrate biodiversity, local identity, and quality of life.

The event will serve as a moment of dialogue between research, civic engagement, and local institutions, in line with the DEB’s commitment to promoting the University’s Third Mission.
