From 14 to 16 September 2026, Rome and Viterbo will host the 9th International Conference on Safety, Health and Welfare in Agricultural, Agri-Food and Forestry Systems, organised by the DAFNE Department of the University of Tuscia together with INAIL.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Everything is almost ready for the\u00a09th SHWA Conference \u2013 Safety, Health and Welfare in Agriculture and Agro-Food Systems<\/strong>, which will bring together researchers, academics, experts, professionals and representatives of institutions from several countries in\u00a0Rome and Viterbo from 14 to 16 September 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The 2026 edition, entitled\u00a0\u201cScience, Technology and Policy for Safer and Healthier Agro-Food and Forestry Systems\u201d<\/strong>, is organised by the\u00a0Department of Agricultural and Forest Sciences (DAFNE) of the University of Tuscia<\/strong>\u00a0together with\u00a0INAIL<\/strong>\u00a0and will provide an important international forum for discussing strategies, technologies and policies aimed at improving the safety, health and well-being of workers in agricultural, agri-food and forestry systems.<\/p>\n

The conference will address a wide range of topics of growing scientific and practical relevance, including\u00a0ergonomics and musculoskeletal disorders, exposure to physical, chemical and biological agents, machinery and plant safety, accident prevention, workers\u2019 health and welfare, digital agriculture, automation and robotics, artificial intelligence, assistive technologies and safety in forestry activities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Particular attention will be devoted to the contribution of technological innovation to risk prevention, with the presentation of new methodologies, digital systems, robotic solutions and technologies designed to support workers and make agricultural and forestry activities increasingly safer and more sustainable.<\/p>\n

The programme will take place across\u00a0Rome and Viterbo<\/strong>\u00a0and will include keynote lectures by international experts, scientific sessions, poster presentations, prototype exhibitions, technical visits and practical demonstrations. Alongside the scientific programme, several opportunities for networking and interaction will encourage the development and strengthening of collaborations among universities, research institutions, public bodies and professionals.<\/p>\n

Following previous editions held in Ragusa Ibla, SHWA enters a new phase in 2026 by adopting an itinerant format and moving for the first time to\u00a0Rome and Viterbo<\/strong>. This new approach further strengthens the international dimension of the conference and its role as a meeting point for different scientific, institutional and professional communities.<\/p>\n

For the\u00a0DAFNE Department and the University of Tuscia<\/strong>, SHWA 2026 also represents an important opportunity to showcase research activities in the fields of ergonomics, occupational safety and technological innovation applied to agricultural and forestry systems, while further strengthening national and international scientific collaborations.<\/p>\n

The conference will ideally begin on the evening of\u00a013 September<\/strong>, with a Welcome Party for participants, before the scientific programme officially starts on 14 September.<\/p>\n

With only a few days to go before SHWA 2026 opens, three days of research, innovation and international exchange are about to begin, with the shared goal of contributing to safer, healthier and more sustainable agricultural, agri-food and forestry systems.<\/strong><\/p>\n
