ABSTRACT<\/b><\/p>\n
The <\/span>ex situ<\/span><\/i> collection maintained at the Educational-Experimental Agricultural Farm of the University of Tuscia, is made of a nucleus of colonies of <\/span>Apis mellifera ligustica<\/span><\/i> Spin. (Italian honey bee, or also Ligurian honey bee). Its legal <\/span>status<\/span><\/i> is endemism for peninsular Italy and Sardinia (Check List of the Italian Fauna, file 106; (http:\/\/www.faunaitalia.it\/checklist). Recently, the Lazio Region has approved the Regional Law 14\/2021 which places the Ligurian bee at the centre of attention for the conservation and protection of bees. The subspecies <\/span>A. m. ligustica<\/span><\/i> Spin. is currently registered in the Regional Voluntary Register (RVR), managed by ARSIAL, devoted to maintain track of the autochthonous genetic resources at risk of genetic erosion according to the LR 15\/2000 act, \u201cProtection of autochthonous genetic resources of agricultural interest\u201d. Specific instrumental and\/or natural fecundation programs in a controlled environment ensure the consistency of the autochthonous genetic heritage of the subspecies subject to <\/span>ex situ<\/span><\/i> protection.
