The soil physics laboratory is currently located in the basement (room 011) of block B of the former Faculty of Agriculture.<\/p>\n

At this structure, analytical support activities are carried out for research and teaching by the AGRI-02\/A group (Agronomy and herbaceous crops) and in general by DAFNE professors and researchers.<\/p>\n

The analytical activities include both the sampling of agricultural soils and open field determinations, such as the surveys of the apparent density mass and the speed of water infiltration. In the laboratory, determinations are made on the solid constituents of the soil such as gravel content and, on the fine soil fraction, the percentage distribution by weight in clay, silt and sand (according to the dimensional limits provided for by the U.S.D.A. and I.S.S.S. methods) and the subsequent classification of the texture.<\/p>\n

Further determinations concern the real density mass and the determination of the water retention curve of the soils with the relative hydrological constants (field water capacity and permanent wilting point), the organic matter content, the total nitrogen, pH and the carbonate content (total and active limestone).<\/p>\n
