45 years of Unitus Celebration
1979-2024

On April 11 at the Santa Maria in Gradi campus, celebrations will be held for the 45th year since the founding of the University of Tuscia.

For the occasion, the opening ceremony will include a philatelic cancellation dedicated to the 45th year of the University’s foundation, and a dedicated booth will be set up in the Renaissance Cloister, located inside Laboratory C, where it will be possible to receive a personalized stamp, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Following this, Rector Stefano Ubertini and the Director General, together with faculty and some units of technical administrative staff, will present, in the Aula Magna of the Rectorate, the “CREDI in Gradi” project, a complex recovery, conservation and enhancement work aimed at promoting the tangible and intangible heritage of the monumental complex of Santa Maria in Gradi. The Director General of Museums, Massimo Osanna, and the Director General of Archives of the Ministry of Culture, Antonio Tarasco, will speak.

The project, co-funded by the Ministry of Culture, has enabled the creation of augmented reality systems for the enjoyment of the site, studies through multispectral imaging and Raman spectroscopy to characterize some works and materials, digitization of about 370 works dating from the first half of the 1500s to the height of the 1800s, including about 40 among sixteenth and seventeenth century works of considerable historical value, and the creation and installation of gamification and voicemap systems. In addition, through the renovation of some disused areas, the University’s general archives and an Archival and Digitization Laboratory were created.

“The project,” said Rector Stefano Ubertini, “will make available to the community a valuable historical and artistic heritage, which will enrich the already vast monumental heritage of the city, contributing to the increase of the tourist attraction of the entire territory and confirming the link between the University and its natural context.

The morning will conclude with the inauguration of the University’s Archival and Digitization Laboratory, a center for experimenting with good memory practices.

The laboratory, housed in a newly restored section of the Complex, is at the service not only of the University but of the entire territory, with unique testimonies related to the monumental Complex and the different uses to which it has been put through the centuries, from a Dominican convent to a city prison and finally a university campus.

Beginning at 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., it will be possible to participate in a guided tour to discover the treasures of Santa Maria in Gradi, organized by the Humanities-Social Sciences Library Pole and the University Museum System. Departure from the Church of Santa Maria in Gradi.

To conclude the festivities dedicated to the celebration of 45 years of the university, a toast with cake and musical entertainment will be provided at 6:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Cloister of the Rector’s Office.
