DESCRIPTION:The Spring DEBates are coming back\, a well-established format from the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences (DEB) that has been running for four years. The series features professors\, research fellows\, and researchers from the University of Tuscia and their collaborators. \nThe series of seminar\, coordinated by Dr. Giovanni Polverino and sponsored by Porta Futuro Lazio (PFL)\, consists of ten weekly meetings and will begin on April 2nd and end on June 11th. The seminars will be held online every Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM\, and will be streamed live on the Google Meet platform. \nThe new edition will be inaugurated by Bianca Melita Palmas\, research assistant at Tuscia\, with a seminar titled: “Effetti dei “Forever Chemicals” sul comportamento animale negli ecosistemi acquatici: due casi di studio”. Sign up here. \nAll PhD students in Ecology and Sustainable Management of Environmental Resources will be awarded 1 CFU for attending at least 8 out of 10 seminars. To receive the certificate of participation\, it is necessary to register through Porta Futuro Lazio (PFL) at least 24 hours before the start of the seminar (the link will also be made available on this page on the morning of the seminar). \nParticipation is open to the entire community and offers a unique opportunity to deepen individual knowledge of the latest scientific topics. \nThe full seminar program can be found here. \nFor assistance during the booking process\, contact us here. \nJOIN THE SEMINAR HERE \n

SUMMARY:POPLAR CULTIVATION AS AN INNOVATIVE STRATEGY TO ADDRESS CLIMATE CHANGE THROUGH NEW CROPPING MODELS SUITABLE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF WOODY RAW MATERIALS FOR THE INDUSTRIAL AND ENERGY SECTORS
DESCRIPTION: JUNE 11 | 3:00 PM\n Registration:   https://seminaricreaunitus.crea.gov.it/ \nPoplar wood-based supply chains and their derivatives represent a hallmark of Italian excellence in both the agricultural and industrial sectors\, recognized internationally as well. Poplar cultivation provides high-quality raw material\, supported by intensive clonal selection and the promotion of sound cultivation techniques. These techniques rely on significantly fewer external inputs compared to major agricultural crops that typically share the same growing areas. Producing wood also means sequestering atmospheric carbon\, thereby contributing to key societal goals such as climate change mitigation and the environmental and landscape enhancement of rural areas. Among the viable approaches are agroforestry systems\, which combine tree-based forestry crops with agricultural cultivation and/or livestock farming\, thus creating multifunctional agricultural systems. \n The webinar is part of the training project “Towards Green Horizons”\, organized within the framework of the excellence project D.I.Ve.r.So.\nThe Order of Agronomists and Foresters of Viterbo will grant 0.25 Professional Training Credits (CFP) for each seminar; the Territorial College of Graduate Agricultural Experts of the Province of Rome will grant 2 CFP per seminar; the National College of Agrotechnicians will also grant 2 CFP per seminar.\nThe training project counts toward the annual 40-hour training performance target outlined in the Directive of the Minister for Public Administration dated January 16\, 2025. Credit recognition is subject to passing a final assessment test administered at the end of each event. \nLocandina Evento \n
