SUMMARY:Spring DEBates 2026: the fifth edition of DEB’s historic seminar series is renewed\, ready to offer you stimulating sessions and outstanding speakersSince 2022\, every spring the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences (DEB) has offered a seminar series focused on scientific dialogue.
DESCRIPTION:Since 2022\, the Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences (DEB) has offered a spring seminar series focused on scientific dialogue. This year\, the Spring DEBates return in a completely renewed format: national and international professors and researchers will share their work\, ideas\, and perspectives on the most current scientific issues. \nThe series\, coordinated by Prof. Giovanni Polverino\, is part of the training activities of the PhD program in “Ecology and Sustainable Management of Environmental Resources\,” but participation is open to everyone. It consists of eight independent talks and will begin on February 19 and conclude on May 28. The seminars will be held in a hybrid format (in-person at the DEB classrooms and/or online via live Zoom streaming) on Thursday afternoons\, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM\, biweekly. \nThe fifth edition will be inaugurated by Prof. Nicolò Colombani\, Associate Professor at the Department of Sciences and Engineering of Matter\, Environment\, and Urban Planning at the Polytechnic University of Marche\, with a talk titled “Salinity origins and patterns in shallow groundwater bodies of the Po River lowland.” \nAll PhD students in Ecology and Sustainable Management of Environmental Resources will earn 1 ECTS credit upon attending all the seminars. \nParticipation does not require registration: links for online seminars will be published on the DEB website and social media channels one week before each event. \nYou can check out the full schedule of the seminar series here. \nDownload the poster for the first seminar here. SUMMARY:International workshop | Climate\, landscape and human impact in Italy during the Etruscan period
DESCRIPTION:From 25 to 27 May 2026\, the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Pisa will host an international workshop on the interactions between human communities and the environment in Central Tyrrhenian Italy during the Early Iron Age (ca. 1000–500 BCE). The event brings together paleoclimatologists\, paleobotanists\, archaeologists\, and historians to investigate the relationships between ancient societies and their environmental context. \nThe Department of Ecological and Biological Sciences (DEB) of the University of Tuscia participates in the event as a partner\, with the involvement of Gianluca Piovesan\, member of the scientific committee\, and Jordan Palli\, member of the organising committee. \nParticipation in the workshop is free. Interested contributors can submit their proposals by 13 February 2026; acceptance notifications will be communicated by 6 March 2026. \nFor further information and to submit a scientific contribution\, please consult the official website. \nPROGRAMME
