SUMMARY:CREA-UNITUS SEMINAR SERIES | TECHNOLOGIES FOR URBAN GREEN MANAGEMENT
DESCRIPTION: OCTOBER 9 | 15:00\n Zoom Platform: https://unitus.zoom.us/j/83299335398 \nUrban green spaces are increasingly important for improving quality of life\, especially in the context of climate change. This requires proper planning and management\, supported by the right tools. The landscape of technologies for urban green management is evolving rapidly\, incorporating tools from other fields such as sensors\, machinery\, geomatics\, digitization\, modeling\, robotics\, and artificial intelligence. The seminar will provide an overview of the available technologies and their applications. \n The webinar is part of the seminar series “Towards Green Horizons”\, organized within the framework of the D.I.Ver.So. excellence project.\nThe Order of Agronomists and Foresters of Viterbo will award 0.25 CFP for each seminar\, while the Territorial College of Agricultural Experts and Graduates of the Province of Rome will recognize 2 CFP for each seminar.\nParticipation also counts towards the 24 hours of mandatory training for public employees. Students and PhD candidates will earn 2 CFU after passing the final exam\, to be held in December.

SUMMARY:OPEN LECTURES | MECHANIZATION FOR FOREST RESTORATION INTERVENTIONS
DESCRIPTION:On December 12 and 13\, two “open lectures” will address highly topical issues in the forestry sector. \nThe first lecture\, titled “Tools for Biomechanics and Tree Stability Assessment”\, will take place on December 12 at 9:00 AM in Room 11 of the Riello Campus of Agricultural Sciences. It will also be available via live streaming on Zoom upon registration at this link. The lecture\, delivered by Forest Expert Ivano Sferrazza\, will focus on the main challenges related to tree stability\, with particular emphasis on distinguishing between risk and hazard in the arboreal context. Key concepts will be explored\, highlighting the differences between these two factors and their impact on urban tree management. Additionally\, the lecture will showcase the primary technical tools available for assessing tree stability\, providing an overview of practical applications and the most innovative approaches in the field. \nThe second open lecture will be held on December 13 at 11:00 AM\, also in Room 11\, and will focus on “Nature Restoration Law and Environmental Protection: Strategies for Restoring and Protecting Ecosystems.” This lecture will be delivered by Dr. Valerio Di Stefano from CREA and Dr. Cristina Cipriano from CMCC and can be followed live online upon registration at this link. The lecture will delve into the principles and objectives of the Nature Restoration Law\, examining its role in environmental protection and the restoration of degraded ecosystems. Practical implications of the regulation will be discussed\, alongside opportunities for biodiversity conservation and contributions to achieving global climate goals. A special focus will be placed on European implementation strategies and tools available to promote sustainable and environmentally respectful development. \nBoth lectures will be introduced by Prof. Leonardo Bianchini.

SUMMARY:Seminar: Areas of Scientific Activity of the Research Lab for Vehicle\, Agricultural\, and Forestry Machinery Design 02/26/2025
DESCRIPTION:On February 26 at 9:00 AM\, the seminar “Areas of Scientific Activity of the Research Lab for Vehicle\, Agricultural\, and Forestry Machinery Design” will be held in the “aula blu” of the Department of Agriculture and Forest Sciences. The event will provide an overview of the research activities conducted at the Institute of Machine Design\, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering\, Poznan University of Technology\, featuring discussions on advanced topics related to the design and optimization of vehicles\, agricultural\, and forestry machinery. \nProfessor Grzegorz Ślaski will present studies on adaptive and semi-active suspension control for vehicle dynamics\, longitudinal dynamics simulation for vehicles with automatic transmissions\, and energy consumption modeling of electric vehicles under varying traffic conditions. Professor Łukasz Gierz will explore the application of the Discrete Element Method (DEM) in the design of agricultural and forestry machines and the use of neural networks for seed identification and moisture content analysis. Dr. Mikołaj Spadło will discuss simulations and fatigue life tests of machinery under random loads\, as well as challenges in automating vibration tests of battery packs for electric vehicles. Finally\, Dr. Wiktor Łykowski will present a numerical DEM analysis on the effects of dosing unit inclination on the seeding rate of granular materials. \nThis seminar represents a valuable opportunity to gain insights into innovative methodologies aimed at improving efficiency\, safety\, and sustainability in the transportation and agricultural & forestry mechanization sectors. \n

SUMMARY:Theatre for Inclusion Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The University Inclusion Committee is pleased to announce the first edition of the Theatre for Inclusion Workshop. \nThe 30-hour workshop will take place at the ArchLab and the Exhibition Hall of Santa Maria in Gradi on the following dates: March 26\, 27\, 28 – April 8 and 9\, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. It will be led by Dr. Francesca Aloi\, under the scientific coordination of the Rector’s Delegate for Inclusion\, Dr. Martina Galli\, and the project’s proponent\, Prof. Daniela Vitiello. \nThis theatrical practice does not use traditional scripts but instead focuses on the lived experiences of the participants. The aim is to stimulate social change and develop a critical awareness of the themes addressed. Through the Theatre for Inclusion Workshop\, the student body\, academic community\, and local citizens will have the opportunity to critically reflect on society and develop concrete strategies for addressing various challenges that may affect their personal and professional growth. \nThe first phase of the workshop will provide a theoretical introduction to Augusto Boal’s Theatre methodology and include practical experimentation with his games and exercises. These aim to foster a safe space\, stimulate expressiveness\, and encourage discussion on relevant social issues. \nIn the second phase\, participants will explore various theatrical techniques\, including Image Theatre and Newspaper Theatre. The latter uses theatrical language to highlight media distortions and manipulations. Drawing on real articles and news items\, the technique helps reveal what lies between the lines\, allowing participants to explore and represent topics such as human rights\, international migration\, gender equality\, cultural diversity\, disability\, and neurodiversity\, among others. \nRegistration is now open (free course)\nMaximum 30 participants \nFor more information and registration:\n📧 laboratorioinclusione@unitus.it \nPorta Futuro  \nScientific Committee:\nMartina Galli and Daniela Vitiello \nTrainer: Francesca Aloi \nPoster\nInformation
