Postdoctoral Fellowship in Soil Contaminant Biogeochemistry

11 Early Stage Researchers (PhDs) at various partners institutions in the European Training Network P-TRAP

PhD Position

at the Chair of Forest Growth and Woody Biomass Production (TU Dresden, Germany), we are seeking a Research Associate / PhD Student for a project on effects of global change on the growth and vitality of forests in northeastern Germany. Extensive monitoring data on crown and site conditions (e.g. nutrient status) is available to the project for 59 sites from throughout Mecklenburg-Pomerania. The dataset will be extended with tree-ring data, allowing to address timely questions, like how trees cope with co-occurring changes in environmental conditions, such as acidification, increased nitrogen deposition and global warming.
We offer a three-year position (TV-L 13, 50%) within a young and dynamic research group. Excellent research facilities will be available to the project. Further, TU Dresden's "forestry campus" in Tharandt provides a highly encouraging working atmosphere with ample opportunities to cooperate with other groups (18 chairs in forestry-related fields).
We are looking for first-class university graduates with good statistical knowledge, holding a university degree (M.Sc. or similar) in forestry, biology, geography, landscape ecology or a closely related discipline.
The deadline for application is 02.05.2018. For more information, see the job advertisement:

Post-doctoral researcher

Post-doctoral researcher  in Wood Science at LERMAB, University of Lorraine

LERMAB, an academic research laboratory from University of Lorraine working in the field of wood Sciences, is seeking PostDoc researcher to work on variability of tannins present in bark of industrial softwood species exploited in France. The research will focus on the effect of different parameters like forest management and age on the longitudinal within tree variability of the chemical composition and quantities of tannins present in bark. Indeed, data concerning amount, structure, polymerization degree and distribution of tannins in bark is of great interest to expect industrial valorisation development of such chemicals. Previous experience in chromatographic analysis methods and in chemistry of natural products will be appreciated. The research activities will be carried out in LERMAB in collaboration with SILVA laboratory working in the fields of Forest Ecology, Forestry and Wood Quality in charge of wood sampling within the framework of BARKTANBIO. This project is financed by the Laboratory of Excellence ARBRE (Advanced Research on the Biology of Tree and Forest Ecosystems). The candidate should present strong interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivation and ability to work as part of a team

Deadline for applications: 1st April 2018

Location of the position : LERMAB, Faculté des Sciences et Technologies, Boulevard des Aiguillettes, 54506 Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy
