  • University Degree in Agricultural Sciences at Viterbo University,  110 out of 110 cum laude. April 1990. Experimental graduation dissertation.

  • EC ERASMUS scholarship from January to March 1989 at the University of Wageningen, The Netherlands, spent carrying out research at the Dept. Virology and attending courses of the MSc in Plant Pathology.

  • From July 1990 to September 1995, employed as a full time researcher at Consorzio Agrital Ricerche, a research consortium located in Maccarese, (Rome). Work consisted of research activities in the field of agronomy and agrometeorology. 

  • EU COMETT scholarship of  4 months, in March 1995, at the Institute of Ecology and Resource Management (IERM) of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. I joined the research activities of the Crop Physiology Group supervised by Dr. Graham Russell

  • From September 1995 to present: employed as a researcher at the Department of Crop Production of the University of Viterbo (Italy). 

  • EU Marie Curie Scholarship of one year (February 1999- February 2000) spent at the Department of Biological Sciences of the University of Dundee (Scotland). Work on a research project entitled "Water and nitrogen stress monitoring of herbaceous crops using hyperspectral multidirectional remote sensing". Joined Professor H.G. Jones' group.

  • Italian National Research Council (CNR) Short-term Mobility scholarship for one month (July 2000) spent at the University of Dundee.

  • PhD at the University of Dundee awarded in 2003.

  • Member of the Italian Society of Agronomy (SIA), of the Association of Applied Biologists (AAB) and of the Italian Association of Agrometeorology (AIAM) and International Society for Agricultural Meteorology (INSAM). 


Research interests

  • study of the effects of environmental factors on arable crops, with paticular interest for evapotranspiration, water and radiation use efficiency, crop canopy structure and crop growth modelling;

  • remote sensing for the detection of plant canopy stress in arable  crops using multiangular and multispectral approaches;

  • agrometeorology and use of micrometeorological techniques.
