Research interests

  • Sustainable agriculture with particular reference in designing, performing and evaluating organic and low input cropping systems in the Mediterranean environment.
  • Cover crops in intensive crop production systems with focus on annual self-reseeding legumes used as green manure and/or living mulches in cereal cropping systems and orchards.
  • Organic mulches in minimum and no-till crop production systems with particularly emphasis in the use of annual legumes and cereals mulches for: increasing soil organic matter, suppressing weeds, improving efficiencies in water use and nutrient recycles.
  • Interdisciplinary studies of agro-ecosystems, including on-farm experimental, and participatory research approaches that involve community stakeholders.
